Neglect (neurologic)

Authoring team

Neglect is a term used to describe the manner in which a patient, after a lesion of the parietal lobe, is unable to attend to one half of his or her body, or indeed the universe.

The syndrome has many bizarre consequences, ranging from inability to count the number of people around the bedside, to leaving half of a meal on a plate as if unaware of its existence.
