Treatment
Co-trimoxazole appears to be the treatment of choice in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised hosts.
- in immunocompetent adults:
- trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) (TMP 160 mg plus SMX 800 mg) orally, twice a day, for 7 – 10 days
