Aetiology
Autonomic failure has three main causes:
- central causes:
- often neurodegenerative
- occasionally tumour, trauma or infection
- peripheral causes:
- often metabolic disorders
- occasionally autoimmune
- adverse drug effects:
- hypotensives
- antidepressants
- neurotoxic agents
