after attending fitting of the diaphragm (or cervical cap) the patient should be provided with a practice cervical cap or diaphragm and spermicide for one week
in this week, the woman should practice fitting the diaphragm or cervical cap themselves. Alternative contraception should be used during this week
at follow-up:
the clinician should enquire to whether the woman and her partner are satisfied with the use of the diaphragm or cap as their future means of contraception
check that the cervix is covered after the woman has fitted the diaphragm or cervical cap
make sure the woman is confident about checking whether the cervix has been covered by the diaphragm or cervical cap
