systemic steroids have a limited role in hay fever management when complete control of symptoms is judged essential
previously depot triamcinolone was considered a treatment option in such cases
a review of the evidence of the effectiveness of depot triamcinolone has concluded that the "the use of depot injections of triamcinolone is no longer acceptable"
in cases where systemic steroids may be indicated then a course of low dose oral prednisolone, such as prednisolone up to 20 mg per day for up to 5 days, is a treatment option (1)
