NICE suggests that urological cancer Multidisciplinary teams should assign a risk category to all newly diagnosed men with localised prostate cancer
This is based on the PSA, Gleason score and clinical stage of the prostate cancer.
PSA  | Gleason score  | Clinical stage  | |||
Low risk  | < 10 ng/ml  | and  | <= 6  | and  | T1-T2a  |
Intermediate risk  | 10-20 ng/ml  | or  | 7  | or  | T2b-T2c  |
High risk*  | > 20 ng/m  | or  | 8-10  | or  | T3-T4  |
*High-risk localised prostate cancer is also included in the definition of locally advanced prostate cancer.
