Mental health issues with BBS

  • some individuals with BBS develop mild to moderate learning difficulties with 50% showing developmental delay (1). In addition they often develop behavioural problems including a lack of inhibition and social skills. Some sufferers have been known to develop obsessive-compulsive behaviours and schizophrenia (1)
  • many people with BBS prefer a set routine and can bee easily upset by sudden changes
