- anorexia: prednisolone, dexamethasone
- capillary bleeding: adrenaline gauze
- convulsions: phenytoin, carbamazepine, diazepam, midazolam
- cough or dyspnoea: morphine, diazepam, dexamethasone
- dysphagia(compression by tumour): dexamethasone
- fungating growths: povidone-iodine, metronidazole
- hiccups: asilone, metoclopramide, chlorpromazine
- hypercalcaemia, osteolytic lesions: pamidronate, clodronate
- muscle spasm: diazepam, baclofen, dantrolene
- neuropathic pain: amitriptyline, valproate, carbamazepine
- pruritus: emollients, cholestyramine, stanozolol, chlorphenamine
- raised intracranial pressure (headache): dexamethasone
- terminal secretions: hyoscine hydrobromide (sedating)
