Phobic disorder in childhood

Authoring team

Minor childhood phobias are common, usually involving items like spiders or concepts like the dark, the more abstract concepts increasing with the intellectual capacity to conceive them.

Generally the mild phobias don't need specific treatment, just a parental reassurance that things are OK. More severe phobias are treated with behavioural therapy.
