Plasma Protein Fraction or Human Albumin solution is the solution remaining once cryoprecipitate, fibrinogen and immunoglobulins have been removed from plasma. It essentially is human albumin.

HAS is heat treated to destroy HIV, hepatitis viruses and CMV. It's primary applications are in the treatment of burns where albumin is lost rapidly, and in the management of hypoalbuminaemic patients with oedema where diuretics have failed, such as in liver disease or the nephrotic syndrome.
