Children - it is usually possible to treat with a closed reduction. A full-length cast, from the axilla to metacarpal shafts, and this is applied with the elbow at 90 degrees and the forearm is held in the neutral position. Splintage is normally retained for 6-8 weeks until both fractures have united.

Adults - usually treated by open reduction and internal fixation.
