Mediastinal masses are asymptomatic in more than 50% of cases, the lesion being detected as an incidental finding.

Symptomatic masses usually present with features due to pressure effects on the surrounding structures. Features may include insidious onset of restrosternal chest pain, dysphagia or dyspnoea.
