This is the phenomenon where the patient finds that they are unable to fully extend the knee.

It may occur with:

  • medial shelf syndrome
  • meniscal tear
  • osteochondritis dissecans
  • loose bodies within the joint:
    • fracture of the patella
    • fracture of an osteophyte
