A sensitivity dermatitis may develop in response to many agents which are applied to the vulva. These include:

  • soap powder
  • deodorants
  • ointments
  • condoms and spermicides

Treatment:

  • withdraw any agent that may be implicated in the reaction
  • apply a steroid ointment
  • stop scratching - may require a short course of sedative taken at night
