Side effects

Authoring team

These include:

  • diarrhoea
  • muscle cramps
  • fatigue
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • insomnia
  • dizziness

Most side effects seem to be mild and transient and occur early in the course of treatment. Generally they resolve in a few days if therapy is continued (1).

Recently there have also been reports of psychiatric disturbances (e.g. aggressive and agitated behaviour, hallucinations) which resolved when the drug dose was reduced or the drug was stopped.
