In this form of dysphasia the association cortex adjacent to Wernicke's and/or Broca's areas may become disconnected.

There are three forms of transcortical dysphasia:

  • transcortical sensory dysphasia
  • transcortical motor dysphasia
  • mixed transcortical dysphasia

In all forms of transcortical dysphasia repitition of speech is conspicuously normal.
