St John's wort (SJW) interacts with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and may lead to increased serotonergic effects with an increased incidence of adverse reactions.
If a patient is being prescribed an SSRI and taking SJW then it is advised that the patient stops taking SJW.
