Causes of myocardial ischaemia include:

  • coronary artery stenosis
  • left ventricular hypertrophy in aortic stenosis
  • aortic regurgitation may result in myocardial ischaemia
  • hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
  • in some cases dilated cardiomyopathy may cause myocardial ischaemia
  • anaemia - this is rarely a cause of myocardial ischaemia but may be an exacerbating factor
  • carbon monoxide poisoning
