The most common chromosomal disorders in the newborn are:



  • pericentric inversion: 1 in 100
  • balanced translocation: 1 in 500
  • trisomy 21: 1 in 700
  • 47, XXY / XYY: 1 in 1000 males
  • 47, XXX: 1 in 1000 females
  • unbalanced translocation: 1 in 2000
  • trisomy 18: 1 in 3000
  • trisomy 13: 1 in 5000
  • 45, X0: 1 in 10,000 females
