Chronic epididymitis
Chronic epididymitis may be due to:
- tuberculosis:
- a primary lesion of the epididymis
- secondary to infection elsewhere in the genitourinary tract
- following repeated attacks of acute epididymitis
Patient's present with a hard, irregular swelling involving the epididymis. The testis may become secondarily involved.
In tuberculosis, cold abscesses may develop and rupture through the scrotum producing cutaneous fistulae.
