Syphilis (tertiary)
Tertiary syphilis is characterised by the development of chronic granulomatous lesions called gummata.
The tissues most commonly affected by gummata include:
- skin
- bone
- mucosal surfaces
Cardiovascular and neurological involvement is often referred to as quaternary syphillis.
