Outcome in audit
There are a variety of ways in which outcome may be measured in audit, including:
- patient satisfaction
- complication, morbidity or mortality rates
- cure rates - judged by:
- technical outcome - i.e. some analytical procedure shows a functional improvement
- patient centred outcome - the patient perceives an improvement
- proxy outcome, ie measuring factors which are influenced by the outcome, for example:
- pain control as assessed by patient request for analgesics
- readmission rates
