This is a method used to monitor fetal activity during the last 10 weeks of pregnancy.

  • the mother counts the fetal movements felt and notes the time at which she has felt ten movements
  • this method is a poor predictor of fetal outcome. However, if the mother has felt less than 10 movements this may be sign of potential problems and the mother should attend her obstetric unit for further assessment
