Gemellus inferior is one of the gluteal muscles around the hip. It arises from the upper border of the ischial tuberosity. It passes laterally and posterior to the neck of the femur, joining with the tendon of the obturator internus muscle. It inserts into the middle part of the medial aspect of the trochanteric fossa.

Its actions include hip:

  • stabilization

Gemellus inferior is innervated by the nerve to quadratus femoris (L5, S1, S2).
