Gluteus medius is one of the muscles of the gluteal region. It arises from the external surface of the ilium between the posterior and middle gluteal lines. It inserts into the lateral surface of the greater trochanter of the femur.
Gluteus medius is innervated by the superior glutal nerve (L5-S1).
