Conception

Authoring team

The monthly chance of conception (with unprotected sexual intercourse) is, on average, 20-25%. If a single exposure occured on day 10 -14 of a 28 day cycle then there is a 20 - 30% risk of pregnancy. The rate of conception is highest in the first month of trying to conceive.

Infertility is defined as the failure to conceive after one year of regular unprotected intercourse (at least twice per week). This occurs in one in six couples.
