Bruxism

Bruxism is used to refer to grinding of the teeth.

It may be seen in a variety conditions which cause learning disabilities, particularly in Down's sydrome.

Drug-induced bruxism (1):

  • a review (564 reports of bruxism; 2000 to 2022) found an association with use of antidepressants (sertraline, escitalopram, venlafaxine, vortioxetine, citalopram, paroxetine, fluoxetine, duloxetine) and antipsychotics (ziprasidone, aripiprazole, olanzapine, risperidone)
  • a signal was also described for oxybate sodium and metoclopramide
