Battle's sign is an indication of a basal skull fracture and may suggest underlying brain trauma
Battle's sign consists of retromastoid bruising. Other signs suggestive of a basal skull fracture include 'panda' eyes (periorbital haematomas) and sub-conjunctival haemorrhage without a posterior margin.
