Recurrent inguinal hernia
The incidence of recurrence of inguinal hernia after an initial operation varies in the literature between 0.6% and approximately 10%. The aetiology of recurrence includes:
- wound infection
- tension on wound:
- excessive tension in repair
- straining, for example caused by:
- persistent cough
- prostatism
- constipation
- poor surgical technique
