Lower limb ischaemia
Arterial insufficiency be chronic or acute. The cardinal feature of chronic insufficiency is intermittent claudication, whereas acute ischaemia presents as the sudden onset of a cold, white foot, extending a variable distance up the leg. In both, usually one limb is affected. Involvement of both limbs is suggestive of a saddle embolus.
