Bladder neck dysfunction

This is bladder outflow obstruction due to bladder neck dysfunction (bladder neck dyssynergia). This condition is almost exclusive to young and middle aged men. There is incomplete opening of the bladder neck during voiding. On rectal examination the prostate is normal. This condition is diagnosed urodynamically.

Treatment:

  • pharmacological - alpha blockers
  • surgical - cystoscopic bladder neck incision
