Axillary lymph nodes (anterior)
The anterior or anterior pectoral group of axillary lymph nodes is characterised by:
- 3-4 nodes
- location:
- medial wall of axilla
- accumulate around lateral thoracic vessels
- posterolateral to pectoralis major at its inferior border
- may be within or superficial to the pectoralis fascia
- tend to pass lymphatic drainage on to the central and apical groups of axillary nodes
