THREE
The anterior bronchopulmonary segment of the right superior lobe of the lung is supplied by the anterior segmental bronchus. On the surface of the lung, it has prominent anterior and medial surfaces. With the posterior bronchopulmonary segment, its inferior base contributes to the inferior surface of the upper lobe.
It is divided from the middle lobe by the horizontal fissure that lies inferiorly; this is about the level of the fourth costal cartilage anteriorly. The superior margin on the anterior of the chest is about the level of second rib.
The anterior bronchopulmonary segment is a frequent site for primary lung malignancies.
