Dry powder inhalers are convenient and compact.

The inspiratory airflow disperses the powder. Requires a relatively rapid rate of inhalation to release the drug therefore variations in inspiratory effort markedly affect the efficiency of drug delivery to the lungs (1).

The necessity for coordination between actuation and inhalation is less when compared to pMDI (1).

A metered dose inhaler with a spacer is the preferred method of administering high dose inhaled corticosteroids.
