Parental counselling

Authoring team

Parental counselling is a technique used in child psychiatry where there is an emphasis is placed on helping the parents understand the child's problems, the factors that have led to the problems and the features that are perpetuating them.

Really it is a common sense sort of approach, acting as the glue between other techniques used, to encourage common sense in the relationship between parents and children.

The techniques are those of any other counselling approach.
