Extrapyrimidal effects and atypical antipsychotic drugs
- extrapyramidal effects rarely occur with clozapine
- also, in placebo-controlled trials, the incidence of such effects was not increased by quetiapine across its full dose range
- with amisulpride, olanzapine and risperidone, extrapyramidal effects can occur at the upper end of the licensed dose range - however, the incidence is generally low at the doses most patients receive
- extrapyramidal effects appear to be uncommon with aripiprazole and zotepine
