Reading retardation (specific)

This is a specific retardation with respect to an child's reading ability, sometimes defined by a reading age for 10 year olds of 28 months or more below the level expected based on the child's age and IQ.

This disorder must be clearly discriminated from general backwardness in scholastic achievements due to low intelligence or inadequate education.
