Pseudoseizures describe the situation where the individual is consciously simulating a seizure. They are difficult to diagnose for a number of reasons, not least because they often co-exist in patients who have a genuine seizure disorder.
They are a diagnosis of exclusion and require EEG recording - often ambulatory - to aid confirmation.
