Persistent hyperinsulinaemic hypoglycaemia of infancy
Persistent hyperinsulinaemic hypoglycaemia of infancy (PHHI) is characterised by:
- unregulated hyperinsulinaemia
- severe hypoglycaemia and hypoketosis
Hypoglycaemia usually begins at birth. Many infants suffer brain damage from severe hypoglycaemia before the diagnosis is made.
