Classification
Clinodactyly is classified according to the extent of the inclination, the digit involved and whether there are any associated anomalies:
- simple clinodactyly: bone deformity of middle phalanx with less than 45 degrees of angulation
- simple complicated: bone deformity of 45 to 60 degrees angulation
- complex:
- bone and soft tissue deformity with less than 45 degrees of angulation
- soft tissue deformity associated with syndactyly
- complex complicated:
- bone and soft tissue deformity of 45 to 60 degrees angulation
- associated with polydactyly or gigantism
- may be a rotational deformity of the digit
