Brachysymphalangism is a congenital hand anomaly. It describes a clinical variant of symphalangism where the proximal interphalangeal joints are both stiff, as in symphalangism, and short. Treatment outcomes are poor with hand therapy and splinting often giving way to operative fusion of the PIP joints.
