Pathology
In Ollier's disease islands of unossified growth cartilage persist in the metaphyses of tubular bones. These islands may give rise to multiple 'enchondromas'.
Rarely, a chondrosarcoma may result from malignant transformation of an enchondroma.
Growth abnormalities are common because the epiphyseal plate is involved.
