The surgical treatment of arthrogryposis may be divided up according to approaches for each joint within the limb that is affected. Typically, surgery is carried out around the age of four years as compensatory movements may be minimally developed while school has yet to commence. Surgery must be judiciously applied in the older child. They may have developed compensatory movements which can be reduced in efficacy as a result of surgery.
