Natural history
- the natural history of frozen shoulder is for spontaneous resolution within 2-4 years - however resolution may not be complete
- study evidence has revealed that 5-10 years following development of a frozen shoulder (1)
- 39% of patients had full recovery
- 54% of patients had clinical limitation without functional disability
- 7% had functional limitation
- another study carried out on 61 patients revealed that 50% had some level of functional limitations or pain 7 years after onset of the disease (1)
