median nerve injury - from compression of the median nerve in the carpal tunnel. This usually resolves on reduction of the dislocation. However it may be still necessary to divide the transverse carpal ligament in order to decompress the nerve.
avascular necrosis of the lunate - this requires treatment only if bone collapse or secondary osteoarthritis develops. Treatment is dependent on the amount of movement provided at the wrist. If there is good movement of the wrist then excision of the lunate and replacement by a Silastic prosthesis may be undertaken. If the wrist is stiff and painful then arthrodesis may be the treatment of choice.
