Predisposing factors to development of microbial keratitis
- some predisposing factors for microbial keratitis are (1) (2):
- ocular trauma (commonest)
- contact lens use
- mostly gram negative organisms
- patients affected by contact lens-related infectious keratitis are usually between 25 and 40 years old, although it may occur at any age in a contact lens user
- ocular surface disease
- herpetic eye disease
- systemic associations
