Occlusion of the anterior cerebral artery is either by embolus or thrombus.
The effects depend upon the site of the occlusion, especially it's relationship to the anterior communicating artery, and to anatomical variation, e.g. both cerebral arteries may arise from the same side.
The main feature is dysfunction of the frontal lobes.
