Authoring team

The thumb web space, unlike the palmar web spaces, is not bounded by transverse ligaments. This permits greater mobility.

Relations:

  • palmar and dorsal surfaces: skin superficial to deep fascia overlying muscles
  • proximal: junction of transverse head of adductor pollicis and first dorsal interosseous muscle
  • distal: margin of web skin
  • ulnarly: first dorsal interosseous muscle, radialis indicis artery
  • radial: adductor pollicis, princeps pollicis artery

The thumb web space is filled with fibrofatty material.
