Clinical features of myositis
The myositis of polymyositis and dermatomyositis results in:
- muscle tenderness
- proximal, symmetrical muscle weakness
- may present as difficulty rising from a chair or climbing stairs
In severe cases there may be:
- dysphagia
- dysphonia
- respiratory failure
