Congenital abnormalities of the foetus
Dystocia and obstruction of labour may occur because the foetus is pathologically large.
Congenital abnormalities to be considered include:
- hydrocephalus
- foetal ascites
- foetal abdominal tumours
- hydrops foetalis
- conjoined twins
- macrosomia
